About Charne
Progress is rarely a straight line for any musician. Patience is the most critical tool in the studio. I offer a free trial lesson to gauge starting level and identify your specific needs. You will find my teaching style is both methodical and warm.
We spend time building a foundation in rhythm and intonation. I pull from my extensive background in the UBC School of Music to ensure your technique is sound. Watching you gain confidence in performance is the best part of my day. Let us start this musical journey together.

Playing violin requires a surprising amount of relaxation rather than tension. My 13 years of experience as a member of the National Arts Centre Orchestra inform how I teach students from absolute beginners to those working through RCM Grade 1 to 10.
I have guided hundreds of learners through the complexities of bowing technique and tone production. It is a joy to help students find their own musical voice through left hand agility and vibrato. We will work together to refine your double stops and classical repertoire. I look forward to supporting your specific musical ambitions.
