About Alex
As an International Master with years of coaching experience, I have successfully trained students from 1000 to 2200 rating, helping them sharpen their skills and reach new milestones. I served as captain of the U.S. Chess Team at the World Championships and have coached both individual talents and groups, including members of the U.S. team. My lessons combine game analysis, tactical training, and strategic planning to ensure steady improvement. I bring professionalism, passion, and a proven record of success to every session, making chess both challenging and enjoyable for my students.

Teaching Method & Techniques
I take a personalized and student-centered approach. Every player has unique strengths and weaknesses, so I focus on identifying patterns in their games to highlight what’s working and what needs improvement. I use a balance of practical examples, tactical training, strategic planning, and psychological preparation to help students not only play stronger moves but also think like a chess player.
Typical Lesson Plan
A typical session begins with reviewing the student’s recent games to pinpoint recurring mistakes or missed opportunities. From there, we work on targeted exercises—whether that’s tactics, positional play, or endgame fundamentals—designed to strengthen their decision-making. Lessons often end with guided practice, so students can immediately apply what they’ve learned.
