About Iona
Hi! I'm Iona, a 24 year old graduate with a first class MEng in bioengineering from the University of Sheffield, driven by a profound love for science.
I have experience working with children of all ages and found immense joy in sharing my enthusiasm through my volunteer work with Women in STEM. During this time, I had the privilege of inspiring young individuals to pursue careers in STEM disciplines.
With a patient and caring teaching style, I am here to make your learning experience more enjoyable. I understand the challenges of learning science and maths in a classroom setting, which is why I focus on delivering personalised lessons, where questions are always welcome!
I am excited to help pupils of all ablilties reach their accademic potential in maths, biology, chemistry and physics and believe that education should be an enjoyable experience for everyone!

I am an approachable tutor with experience tutoring year 11 students in preperaration for Physics and maths GCSE. I am available to teach GCSE maths, physics, chemistry and Bioligy lessons.
In my lessons I will provide a comfortable and friendly atmosphere, with a student led teaching style. We will begin by outlining specific areas of weakness within the course with reference to the exam board specification. Next, I will ensure a thorough understanding of basic concepts, which sould give a good foundation for independent study and allow for better understanding during lessons. We will then tackle the areas of weakness using varying strategies, such as real life examples to contextualise, followed by exam questions to consolidate recall.
Personally I am quite a creative learner, allowing me to approach problems from a slightly different angle if concepts are not quite understood in the classroom. Therefore, the lessons will be tailored to the student depending on how they learn best. I'll also help students to develop effective revision techniques, assigning homework, and collaborating on realistic revision schedules to work towards their goal.
