About Gabriella
I have always had unwavering passion for working with students and nurturing their potential, even when those students were my peers. I have always loved one-on-one tutoring because it allows me to focus on one student's abilities and help them grow. I graduated from Cornell University with a degree in Biological Engineering, and while there, I took as many education and psychology classes as could fit in my schedule. I spent my breaks substituting at my local elementary school and always had at least one student I tutored each semester, often swapping between remote and in-person. I volunteered at many after school programs while in college and when I graduated, realized that tutoring truly was something I never wanted to stop doing.
My academic journey and tutoring experiences have also provided me with a unique perspective on the interconnectedness of these and other disciplines. One subject does not stand alone; just like in “real life”, outside of the classroom, we all rely on one another to fill the gaps where our expertise does not stretch. I believe in highlighting these gaps and building bridges to fill them. That is, connecting with other subjects to demonstrate the importance of each one, not apart, but together.
I am driven by a commitment to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment for every student I work with. I believe that every person, and student, brings a diverse set of experiences, strengths, and areas for growth, and it is my responsibility to celebrate these differences while helping each student see and reach their full potential. For me, tutoring is not just about disseminating knowledge, but about fostering an environment where students feel smart and empowered enough to question, explore, and discover their own unique passions and strengths. I work hard to foster an environment that ignites curiosity, encourages growth, and shapes people to be the best they can be.

Having continued to do private tutoring for over eight years and volunteering in after school programs in college, I have experience with students of all ages and across many subjects, but I have always been best with higher level mathematics and science subjects. I currently hold a teaching license in Physics and Chemistry and with a Biological Engineering background, I enjoy teaching up to and including AP Physics (Calculus-Based), AP Chemistry, introduction college chemistry courses, AP Calculus BC, and have most recently tutoring primarily in pre-calculus (trigonometry), algebra 1 and 2, geometry, and high school chemistry. Other subjects I have experience tutoring include high school physicsand biology, and middle school pre-algebra.
I begin by identifying a student's individual needs. This allows me to find the best way to provide conceptual clarity, so they can build a strong foundation of understanding. I can then provide context so they can move forward in the subject and be better prepared for the next new concept that comes around. This in turn helps students to learn how to study and review subjects when they are alone and thus gives them the strength and confidence to one day succeed on their own!
Most science and mathematics homeworks and exams rely on the ability to problem solve, not just rote memorization. My students and I spend the majority of time doing practice together and I have students walk me through problems to see where they are struggling. The more they practice, the more comfortable they will be with the material, especially for high pressured exams where some students really struggle even when they feel they know the material. We will build their confidence together, which will make them better students, and more importantly, better learners.
I always keep an open line of communication with my students and their parents so they always feel they can truly tell me when they are just not "getting it" or feel they are struggling with something. I appreciate feedback and will always change my methods when something is clearly not working. I want every student to feel they can get better at, and even learn to enjoy, any subject they struggle with.

My price per session is VARIABLE. While the site doesn't allow me to include that, my rate is in the range as provided. The rate provided is what I would charge for a typical 60-75 minute session that would usually be a weekly or every other week session. If a student needs minimal support/would require siginificantly less prep time for myself, then I would offer a lower rate. If a student needed to meet twice a week for whatever reason, it would also be a lower rate for those sessions. For students who require significant prep time (multiple individualized practice sheets/exams, study guides, etc.), I would suggest a higher rate. It is a case-by-case basis, but I am very flexible and am happy to hear any qualms as they arise.
