About Karen
I have been teaching and tutoring students and adults for the past ten years in the Philadelphia and Palm Beach County areas. The majority of my K through 12 students were reading 2 grade levels below their grade. After working with them, they were able to meet standard level requirements and proceed to the next grade and graduate. My work with adult literacy involved helping adults meet the level of efficiency required for them to obtain a position in the work force.

I tutor all ages in developing strong reading, writing and literacy skills. I use direct instruction and drill and practice methods depending upon the students strengths and weaknesses. For K through 12 students, I center the instruction around their school projects and homework. For adults, I determine their proficiency level through testing and discussion and create a learning plan that fits their needs. I offering tutoring in the home or local library.
