About Jake

I recently did the exams myself and would love to pass on my experience. I feel that 1 on 1 lessons can really help and I like to always make sure that my students understand the concept before trying to answer questions on the topic.

About the lesson

At first I will speak to the student/parent about where they are at and what they would like to achieve. From this I can assess how I will go about my lessons. If the student has a good understanding of the subject, I will use my many exam resources to help them nail down their knowledge and present it the right way in order to get maximum marks. If the student doesn’t quite understand the topic of subject, I will start from basics to build their understanding and then from there we will eventually be able to go through it in enough detail to access the top marks. I strongly believe that you have to have a base understanding first otherwise students can get thrown off and lose motivation when it gets more complicated. My lessons will be based upon reviewing and testing on what we did in the previous lesson, and then going onto the next part of the syllabus. Repetition is the key to information recall and by making the lessons fun and interactive, it can really help with this process. Finally, I will ask the student if there is anything of which they want to go through that they don’t understand from school etc so that when they return to school for their next lesson, they will have a clearer understanding and not fall behind.

Jake armed our daughter with the tactics she needed to succeed in her Geography A Level, enabling her to achieve an A grade. He is very knowledgeable about each paper and what the examiners are looking for to secure the top marks. He is friendly and down to earth and so put our daughter at ease immediately. He also gave her confidence in her ability and spent their online sessions talking through possible exam questions, which proved invaluable
