My name is James Spence, and I've been a qualified driving instructor for 8 years. I've helped hundreds of students — from first-time drivers to mature learners — pass their tests and become safe, confident drivers. I'm fully certified and insured, with extensive experience teaching learners with anxiety, learning differences, and previous test failures. My students describe me as calm, professional, and easy to talk to. I've helped nervous drivers overcome their fears, adult learners finally gain their independence, and young drivers build skills that will keep them safe for life. Hi, I'm James Spence. I've taught driving for 8 years, and my focus is on helping learners develop practical skills and real confidence in a patient, structured environment. I work with new drivers, adults learning later in life, and anyone who feels nervous or underconfident behind the wheel. My lessons are step-by-step and built around you. We start with the basics: car control, smooth braking and steering, and building awareness of the road around you. As you become more comfortable, we move on to intersections, lane changes, parallel parking, and highway driving — always at a pace that feels manageable. I also teach defensive driving and hazard awareness, so you're prepared for whatever comes your way. I'm patient, clear, and I never rush my students. You'll leave every lesson feeling more capable and more sure of yourself on the road.
