About Janet

- What kind of experience do you have?

Regarding teaching, I have gained experience not only teaching private students of all levels and ages, furthermore, I was invited to teach at the Verbier Festival Amateur Chamber Music Week (adults/individual lessons/chamber music), coaching the viola section of the Zurich Youth Symphony Orchestra and teaching in chamber music camps for children and adolescents at the Foundation Villa Jolimont (individual lessons/chamber music). Also, I was a jury member for the Swiss Youth Symphony Orchestra auditions.

On the other hand, I was highly privileged having the honour to play orchestral projects with Bernhard Haitink, David Zinman, Howard Griffiths, Kristjan Järvi, Nello Santi (solo viola), Jesus Lopez-Cobos, Beat Furrer, Tadeusz Wojciechowski and Stefan Asbury in concert halls such as;
the Berlin Philharmonic, Warsaw Philharmonic, Konzerthaus Berlin, Tonhalle Zurich, Smetana Hall Prague, Ljubljana Philharmonic, Slovak National Theatre, Stefaniensaal Graz and Aya Irene Istanbul.

Furthermore, I played at festivals such as the Verbier Festival, the Davos Festival, “Tage der Neuen Musik” Tonhalle Zurich (contemporary music) as well as at the Baloise Session: a pop, jazz and world music festival with guests like Iggy Pop, Tom Jones, Pink, Tori Amos, Bryan Ferri and Norah Jones including international live television broadcasts. Regarding broadcasts, I also played in the session orchestra for the soundtrack of Jimmy Nelson's “Before They Pass Away.”

In addition, I was awarded grants from the foundations Paul Hindemith (Chamber Music Academy), Animato (Orchestra Academy under Howard Griffiths), Bruno Schuler, Erna & Curt Burgauer and from the International Summer Academy of the Mozarteum Salzburg.

- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.

If you can't manage to obtain face-to-face lessons timewise, I am happy to help you with a skype-session.

- Do you have a personal message for students?

My approach towards teaching and playing has been greatly influenced by my former professor Wilfried Strehle, 1st solo violist of the Berlin Philharmonic since the era of Herbert von Karajan. Furthermore, during my studies under Matthias Enderle and Susanne Frank, both former students of Aida Stucki, Anne-Sophie Mutter's most influential teacher, I discovered Aida Stucki's school of sound technique, which is based on the school of Carl Flesch, and I admired it immediately.
Of course, this is only a basic approach since firstly, I shape my style of teaching to suit each student's needs individually, and secondly, the most important thing while playing is you enjoy the way you learn in a positive atmosphere to achieve your personal goals.
