About Elizabeth
I have spent over 25 years employing a student-focused approach in which I discern the specific learning style of each student and design strategies to promote effective and long-term learning outcomes. I am clear, punctual and always focus on the affirmative. My long experience living, working and teaching in Japan has given me not only native fluency, but also a special perspective on how non-native learners acquire Japanese. Before I was a Japanese language professor, I worked as a translator/interpreter for 15 years in business settings.

Can accommodate the needs of any learner depending on their aspirations and goals. Will customize lessons to concentrate on any combination of skills (speaking, reading, writing, listening). Each session will include a warm up, review of previous material, introduction of new material and reinforcement. I make a point of using the target language as is appropriate for each level. I am unusual as a teacher because I am a native speaker of English and as close to a native speaker of Japanese as is possible.
