About Jesse
Hi, I’m Jesse Afundu, a Civil Engineering student at Toronto Metropolitan University with over two years of tutoring experience and a strong academic background in STEM. I’ve worked with students across middle and high school, helping them improve their understanding in Physics and Math by breaking down complex concepts into clear, manageable steps. My experience includes private tutoring and academic support, where I’ve built strong relationships with students and families through consistent results.
Families have described me as patient, reliable, and adaptable! Every student learns differently, and I make sure my teaching reflects that. My goal isn’t just to help you get the right answer, but to make sure you understand the process and feel confident tackling problems on your own.
In addition to tutoring, I do have strong problem-solving and communication skills through academic achievements, including winning 1st place at a university-level student innovation competition. You can expect a professional, supportive learning environment where your progress is my top priority.

I take a structured but flexible approach to tutoring, focusing on building real understanding rather than memorization. I break down complex concepts into simple, step-by-step explanations, use examples to reinforce learning, and adapt my teaching style to match how each student learns best.
A typical lesson starts with a quick review of previous material, followed by teaching a key concept, then guided practice where I support the student, and finally independent questions to build confidence. I also focus on problem-solving strategies and exam techniques to help students perform under pressure.
What sets me apart is my ability to simplify difficult STEM topics and build strong rapport with students, making sessions both effective and comfortable. My lessons are designed for middle school to high school students, especially those taking academic or advanced courses in Physics, Geometry, Calculus, and Linear Algebra.

Jesse and I met at this study club during exam weeks. He overheard me talking to my friends about how I don't understand math and that I didn't know how I would survive physics next semester. So he offered to teach me and help me get through it.
Jesse was very patient with me and targeted the gaps that made me struggle with understanding. He taught me the fundamental principles leading to the lesson, which then helped me a lot during the course.
Honestly, 5/5 stars. I wouldn't want to pick another tutor (this course was PCS 110/physics).

- SarraWas recommended Jesse from a friend and he helped me cram for PCS110(Physics).
Super friendly guy and helps you thoroughly understand the content.
10/10 would recommend.- Friends at Toronto Metropolitan University
- Clear in his teaching, using real world examples and patient with slow learning
- When working on physics homework together Jesse was able to help explain concepts to me in our classes that I was not entirely sure about, aiding me to do better in the class
Electrical Engineering - TMUI met Jesse in high school. He helped me study for my calculus and physics exams by guiding me step by step through some example questions. Now, I’m about to go to TMU for engineering. Jesse doesn’t rush through explanations, and he’s charismatic so you won’t get bored while he’s teaching. 5 stars.
Jesse tutored me and he tutored me well. I don’t think I would have passed Physics if it wasn’t for that guy.
The way he’d explain kinematics with logic and step by step help after class made him a great help. He has it down to a tee.
Thanks again
Victor - Electrical Eng TMUGreat Experience with Jesse, couldn't have passed Calc II without this guy! He really knows his stuff with Trig Integration.
Would recommend!
