About Johann

I am a graduate of the University of Oxford (MPhil and DPhil/PhD). I am a recipient of the Rhodes Scholarship - the oldest and most prestigious international academic scholarship in the world. I am a full-time University Lecturer at a top UK Department in my field. I was previously a Lecturer at the University of Oxford, responsible for shortlisting, interviewing, and admitting students in Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) and History and Politics at several Oxford Colleges. My Qualifications: DPhil (PhD) - University of Oxford MPhil (Distinction) - University of Oxford BA/ BHSc (1st Class) - University of Auckland, New Zealand AFHEA - Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (University Teaching Qualification) I have been vetted by Disclosure Scotland (the Scottish DBS equivalent), as part of my employment.

About the lesson

I am highly experienced at tutoring, having tutored students across all age groups in New Zealand and the UK. I specialise in University Entrance and Admissions, especially Oxford and Cambridge (Oxbridge) Admissions. My teaching approach is encouraging and collaborative, but direct and precise. I will be honest about students' shortcomings while highlighting any strengths, in an effort to work together to achieve the best possible outcome. I can offer support for all stages of the Oxbridge admissions process, including: - Decisions about College choice and course selection. - The Thinking Skills Assessment (TSA) Test. - UCAS Applications and Personal Statements - Interview Preparation I am able to share important insights and tips around the Oxbridge admissions process as someone who previously made admission decisions at Oxford about which students to shortlist/interview and admit. Very few private tutors are able to offer this level of experience and insight. I also offer Mock Oxbridge Admissions Interviews. I offer lessons online and in Cambridge.
