About Terry

My own life-path was driven by a too-large sense of adventure and a too-small view of the road ahead. Today I know it is never to soon to start things that will --decades later-- ease the daily struggles and make a lifetime much easier to live.
As much as anything, my tutoring objective is to determine a person's approximate interests and passions. These are required as a primary guide to setting up an easier lifespan path.
While these paths will appear long and uncertain, with many hurdles and diversions, we need to discover and use the life experiences of others who have made their mistakes and are willing to share preventive solutions. We want to know of these mistakes so as not to repeat them ourselves. Of course lifepath missteps must be made. But it is better to get personalized life-lessons that come directly from our own personal miscalculations. From this we can learn about accountability.
Any teaching success I enjoy comes largely from encouraging persistent efforts, establishing positive attitudes, problem-solving and from raising self-confidence.

About the lesson

As a journalist I learned to ask the effective questions that allowed me to readily understand the present situation or challenge. It also helped reveal my best intentions to my interview subjects.
By exchanging questions, a learner and I are able to know something of each other's character, plus it allows me to demonstrate my patience, my openness and my sense of humor.
This swapping of questions helps to get a learner comfortable with 'grilling' me, thus giving me a clearer understanding of what help is needed. It also serves as a kind of lesson 'warm-up'. As a starting point, I want to be the listener.
And then, with an objective made clearer, we can proceed to the main activity, perhaps a mini-lesson and some practice exercises.
As we near the end of a session, I can complete a lesson/assessment and determine some on-your-own practice challenges to prepare us for the next-session.
