About Jacob
Because of my love for Aerospace Engineering, I am a member of Purdue Orbital--an organization run by students attempting to design a vehicle capable of reaching space at a low cost. In my free time I enjoy watching Formula 1 races, playing video games (Skyrim, Super Smash Bros, and Grand Theft Auto V to name a few), and binging shows.

Physics and math are two of the hardest subject areas for students to grasp, and my approach to teaching them is how I was taught at Purdue: careful attention to detail, a step-by-step process, and repetition.
A typical problem would be set up in steps. First, I have the student write down everything given to them in the problem (i.e. numbers, special conditions, etc.). Once everything is written down--including the information that must be solved for, a visual representation of the problem is made. Recording all of this information at the beginning of a problem helps students understand the larger picture, where formulas and equations can be fully understood.
This process is designed to help build understanding on a conceptual level by strengthening the link between what is visually and mathematically occurring. While I learned this method in my first year of college, I firmly believe that it can benefit students' ability to truly understand what they are being taught, rather than using formulas and examples given to them in class.
Using this approach, students in middle and high school can master each subject and prepare themselves for college.
