About Amelia
Getting stuck on a certain topic or question is completely normal and a natural part of the learning process. Everyone has a different learning pace, and that is okay. As someone who tutors elementary through high school students at all different levels of math and learning, I tailor my teaching strategies to each person by understanding the way each student breaks down each question and their best ways of focusing. I am a strong believer in positive reinforcement, and that any kind of progress is worth rewarding. At the end of one-hour sessions, I typically give a snack and let the student keep learning in a more fun way via Blooket or Kahoot. I can also teach up to 2 students at a time, which can be convenient for siblings. Aside from school math, I can help students to prep for ACT and/or SAT math as I have a 36 on the ACT math section and 790 on the SAT math section.

I am very patient with kids, and as someone who grew up struggling with math, I completely understand that "stumped" feeling whenever you come across a difficult math question. I have prior tutoring experience for young kids, ranging in ages from 4-14 years old. I also am comfortable in a wide variety of math topics, ranging from basic arithmetic, to algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and calculus. My typical lesson plan for a one-hour session would be for the student to bring in whatever homework or study materials they have from school and work through them and I can also provide practice problems if they need help in certain difficult topics.

Details
I have a flexible schedule and am typically available after 3:00 PM Monday through Friday due to school commitments. I also have greater flexibility on weekends and can often accommodate varying hours as needed.
