About Amelia

As a pianist for over 14 years (starting at age 3), I have played as a soloist, part of a piano trio and quartet, and in an orchestra. Furthermore, with learning experience in music theory and perfect pitch, I can help students not just learn to play the piano, but also key life skills, such as memorization, organization, and understanding how different parts/sections of a piece all work together to create music.

About the lesson

I have background knowledge in music theory courses, so I would love to explain the concept and the "why's" behind the music structure in the pieces. I am most comfortable teaching kids aged 5-10 years old who are beginner to moderately advanced young pianists. A typical one-hour session would include scale and finger-exercise warm-ups, going through 1-3 pieces, and then going over the main takeaways from the lesson for the last five minutes.

I have a flexible schedule and am typically available after 3:00 PM Monday through Friday due to school commitments. I also have greater flexibility on weekends and can often accommodate varying hours as needed.
