About John
Along with my 11 years of school and advanced math coursework enrolled in all AP and honors math courses, I also have experience helping my two younger sisters, who are now in 3rd and 7th grade, with their math and school assignments. Supporting them has given me a strong understanding of how to explain concepts clearly and patiently. I would love to take that experience a step further and help your student as well!

How My Lessons Work:
I offer one-hour math tutoring sessions for elementary and middle school students, available after school on weekdays or on weekends. Lessons can take place at the Lexington Cary Memorial Library for an in-person, focused environment, or virtually over FaceTime for added convenience. Each session is structured to support homework completion, strengthen core skills, and build confidence in math.
Sample lesson plan
1. Warm-Up (5 minutes)
Quick review of last session’s material or a few simple problems to activate prior knowledge.
2. Homework Support (20 minutes) Work through the student’s current homework together. I explain concepts step-by-step, check understanding, and help them develop problem-solving strategies rather than just memorizing steps.
3. Skill Building (25 minutes)
Targeted practice based on the student’s needs—such as fractions, decimals, word problems, or pre-algebra skills. I provide clear explanations and guided practice to build confidence.
4. Review & Wrap-Up (10 minutes)
Go over what we covered, answer remaining questions, and outline a simple plan for what to practice before the next session
