About Luke

I am a Junior Biology major in the pre-medical program at my University! I am highly extroverted and love speaking with others no matter their level of social comfortability. Not only this, but I am involved in multiple student organizations, the most notable being HOSA- Future Healthcare Professionals of America. I complete cancer research at my University, and I also work in the cancer center at my University! I strive to meet others as this is one of my favorite parts of life. It is even more exciting to get to work with others, and that is part of the reason I’d like to tutor more often. I am deeply immersed in Biology and Medicine, and I would like to pursue a career in Healthcare! It excites me to speak with others who are passionate about learning, and I hope that others would be just as excited to work with me :)

About the lesson

I enjoy conversation and questions, and so I encourage a communicative environment when teaching others. I am very good at setting a comfortable tone, as I have already been teaching classes for over 1 year now! Each student has a different set of needs to be met - some are quiet and would prefer I do most of the talking, some are big talkers and prefer I guide them to the right ideas; I love every approach and I work with my students to incorporate their learning strategies! What sets me apart from other tutors would definitely be my comfort around others. As I mentioned, I have already been working as a group/solo tutor at my university for one year; however, I also served as a swim coach for over 3 years, a server and fast food worker for 5+ years, and have been working at a hospital for about 1 year. I’m very humorous but also very very understanding that everyone is different and requires different levels of teaching. Patience is one of my virtues, and I would never want to harbor any environment that is not supportive and helpful. My lessons would be for biology and chemistry students and high school or collegiate level biology and chemistry classes. For example, I received a 5 on the AP Biology exam in high school, and above a 95 in every biology course I have taken in College (Foundations of Biology 1, Foundations of Biology 2, Viral Discovery, Biology 110, and Cell and Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Organic Chemistry).
