Foundations are called foundations for a reason, and building anything without a foundation is doomed to fall. Knowledge of basics and control to execute them though practiced controlled movements is the only way. When you learned the alphabet, suddenly you had the ability to write volumes. So it is with learning proficiency and literacy in the Universal Language of Music.
I can show you how I play guitar, but ultimately it is up to you, the student to take the immersive leap into the life-long journey of musical expression.
Music has been such a large part of my life that I feel that Life is Music. Professionally I have been playing and teaching for 30+ years, yet still get the same thrill as I did as an angsty teen making noise. Live performance is always a thrilling adventure, and I am grateful to have seen a fair portion of the world through it. Recording music is my passion presently, as it leads you places you have only dreamed of.
My rates are $120/month for half hour weekly sessions, $200/month for hours
Lesson payments are due the first lesson of the calendar month and are non-refundable

My 12-year old daughter has been taking electric bass lessons from Paul for two years. Paul’s teaching style is laid back and fun which is highly motivating for a young learner. He is flexible with the direction of each lesson based on her interests and school assignments but has high expectations for effort and practicing during the week. Paul’s selection of songs cover multiple genres and styles and they easily switch from building her repertoire to concepts in music theory to crafting original songs. She is now performing in a jazz combo in addition to her school band program. After a long search for an instructor, I am happy that she found the right fit, is excited to learn, and progressing so quickly.
Paul has been Director of the Underwood Baptist Praise Band since 2004. We are so pleased with how he utilizes the various latent talents in our congregation and co-creates a meaningful musical experience for worship on a consistent basis. Often Paul will switch roles to highlight Another's talent, showing that musical expression is a cooperation not a competition. He is the church gardener to boot!
Paul is a jewel with many facets and anyone would be lucky to learn music with him.

I have been taking guitar lessons with Paul for many years. Paul is a well-rounded professional with an extensive background in music education, writing and performing. His teaching method involves both technique as well as theory so that I understand the how and why of playing music on guitar. He has an appreciation of a wide range of music giving students the opportunity to explore all the guitar has to offer. Lessons with Paul are informative and fun and lead to long-lasting results. I highly recommend Paul for lessons.
I have worked with Paul for almost three years. I can tell you that Paul will always have your best interests at heart.
He has a boundless knowledge of music and can teach any style at any level. My interests are mostly rock and blues but Paul can pivot to jazz or flamenco style or slide on the fly. He balances guitar knowledge and technique with music theory and is always helping me move forward.
Paul is very approachable and clearly enjoys teaching. He is patient with my endless questions and has taken me from raw beginner to dedicated enthusiast.
I highly recommend him.
