About Shelli
Hello! I'm Shelli, a lifelong knitter, crocheter, teacher, and fiber arts enthusiast.
I learned to knit when I was five years old and picked up crochet at thirteen. What started as a childhood hobby became a lifelong passion and a creative practice that has remained with me through every stage of life. Over the years, I've made everything from simple accessories to complex garments and have taught hundreds of people how to knit and crochet with confidence.
Teaching has always been an important part of my work. I hold a Master's Degree in Education and have spent years helping people develop new skills, solve problems, and gain confidence in their abilities. I bring that same approach to fiber arts instruction. My goal is not just to teach techniques but to help students understand how knitting and crochet work so they can continue learning and creating independently.
I am also the founder and organizer of a thriving community fiber arts group where knitters and crocheters of all skill levels come together to learn, share ideas, and support one another. Through this work, I've helped many beginners get started and guided experienced makers through challenging projects and techniques.
Students describe me as patient, encouraging, knowledgeable, and practical. I understand the common frustrations that can make new crafters feel stuck, and I know how to break complex skills into manageable steps. Whether you're picking up needles for the first time, returning to the craft after years away, or tackling a project that feels intimidating, I'll meet you where you are and help you reach your goals.
Above all, I believe knitting and crochet should be enjoyable. Learning a new craft can be challenging, but it should also be creative, rewarding, and fun.

I've been knitting since I was five years old and crocheting since I was thirteen. Over the years, I've taught hundreds of knitters and crocheters, from complete beginners picking up needles for the first time to experienced makers tackling more advanced techniques.
My teaching philosophy is simple: start with what you want to make.
Many beginner knitting classes begin with a long scarf because it's easy to teach. The problem is that many students lose interest before they learn the skills they actually want to use. Instead, I work with you to identify a project that excites you and then build the skills needed to complete it. Whether your goal is a hat, socks, a sweater, a stuffed animal, or a gift for someone special, we'll create a learning plan that gets you there as efficiently as possible.
My lessons focus on understanding rather than memorization. I teach the "why" behind knitting and crochet so you can troubleshoot mistakes, read patterns with confidence, and continue learning independently. Along the way, I'll help you avoid the common pitfalls that frustrate new crafters and provide practical tips that come from decades of experience.
A typical lesson includes reviewing your progress, introducing a new skill or technique, practicing together, and creating a plan for what to work on before our next session. I provide hands-on guidance, encouragement, and plenty of opportunities to ask questions.
Lessons are available for complete beginners (including kids!), returning knitters and crocheters, and intermediate makers looking to expand their skills. I can help with basic techniques, pattern reading, garment construction, finishing, troubleshooting mistakes, project planning, and building confidence with more complex projects.
Above all, I believe fiber arts should be something you look forward to rather than a punishment or a chore. My goal is to help you build skills while making something you're genuinely excited to create.
