About IVI
I am a retired STEM Teacher, aiming to teach important "niche" courses, in Sustainable / Nuclear Energy.
New, this month, is a module on "Reversing Climate Change"
RCC is based on the realization, that we can't "fix" Climate Change by simply Reducing our New Emissions; we must first Remove Emissions from the past 100 years (RE100).
Earlier experience in Aerospace (where "The Only Limitations are the ones you take with you" applies), ICT, Consulting.
About the lesson
- All Levels
- English
All languages in which the lesson is available :
English
This is a "niche" lesson (also being further developed into a MasterClass), which covers important topics & methods: mainly, Nuclear Energy & Types of Reactors (now & in future), and their application to Reversing Climate Change.
While maintaining as much technical accuracy as possible, the changing nature of, eg, future applications, reactor types, etc. should further motivate students to update their learning.
We will provide links to content, that student can revisit, after finishing the course or their sessions with us.
Although some Debating will be offered, these "axioms" will Not be among the topics to be debated here:
1. Climate Change is Real, & it is an Urgent Challenge of our time
2. Humans are Responsible for increasing its rates of occurrence
3. Nuclear Energy has proven itself to be a Safe, Green, Powerful tool to help us push-back Climate Change; it has the potential to help us Reverse Climate Change, in future, a necessary goal
4. Teacher & Student are free to hold &, from time to time, change or express their opinions or preferred Nuclear Energy technologies
5. Fusion will Not be included in this course, ie, unless + until it shows more likelihood of becoming a practical + efficient energy source
FULL DISCLOSURE: Teacher's preferred Nuclear Reactor is the (Liquid-Fuel) Molten Salt Reactor (MSR), in the sub-category of Small Modular Reactors (SMR). As some SMR's may have (solid) Fuel-Rods (to which Teacher is averse), any reactor which does, such as NuScale, will Not get much coverage. There is ample content [& promotional material], on NuScale, for anyone who is keen to find it.)
Sample Teaching Methods:
Question + Answer exchanges, designed to both stimulate curiosity & thought toward possible solutions AND develop an engineer-like sense of picking solution(s) most likely to work cost-effectively, in a given context.
Students will need to have Internet available during each lesson, as they will be asked to view online images or video clips, from time to time. Either a discussion, Q + A or short debate may follow each clip suggested.
Students can also suggest content for inclusion before any lesson (preferably, in time for Teacher to assess it), if they feel it will bring details or perspectives not presented, or which they are curious about.
(Where slow Internet might cause delays, Students are encour-aged to download all lesson content, before start of lesson.)
Teacher reserves the right to decide if / when the proposed content will be included.
Lessons will be delivered exclusively via (audio-only) Zello or (for students in 25 countries, to be listed) phone (we ring you), so that the materials being discussed can remain on-screen.

Details
After a First FREE lesson, student (wanting to continue with lessons) needs to have pre-paid for at least ONE (1) additional lesson BEFORE that lesson begins.
(Specifically, payment must visible in Teacher's banking app before that lesson begins. On request, the Teacher can advise student(s), that payment has been received.)
At the discretion of the Teacher, a 50% Nano-Scholarship may be applied to any lesson (either 1-Off or for more than one lesson). Any student may apply (just once) for an NS, at any time. (There is No Form to complete (an eMail is fine); both Merit & Need will be considered.)
If student is unable to participate in all of any lesson, eg, due to an incoming phone call, during the lesson, 50% of the payment for that lesson will be retained by Teacher, & the other 50% may be applied to the next lesson.
Alternativerly, a refund of the other 50% is possible, if requested - in writing (by eMail is fine), if the Student will Not continue, for any reason.
