About Alice
My name is Alice and I have two years of tutoring experience in Mathematics at both KS3 and GCSE level, as well as Geography at GCSE and A Level.
My degree is in Business Management, and I have a HE Certificate in Geography, however, I have studied both Mathematics and Geography to A-Level standard, and I have taken Calculus and Human Geography electorate modules.
My primary occupation is a trainee Tax Advisor; I have been in my role for a total of three years. I am currently working towards my Chartered Institute of Taxation qualification, and will be fully qualified by January 2025. I draw on my experience at work when it comes to applying critical thinking skills and being across the detail in analyses.

During my time at university, I tutored 4 pupils in these subjects, and they showed remarkable improvements in their work efficacy. I use techniques such as realistic goal setting, daily study routine support and breaking down mark schemes so that each pupil understands what the examiner is looking for. When it comes to time management techniques, I always advise my pupils to use the easiest and quickest methods to suit their own work style.
In a typical starter session, I will ask the pupil about their trickiest topics and start a discussion on first steps to tackle those. I believe that the longer a pupil has to get to grips with these topics, the more success they will have at their exams. In subsequent sessions, we will take a short knowledge quiz at the start, then we will look at past exam papers, and answer the questions together. As the sessions progress, the pupil will be expected to answer these questions unaided or with little help. I will also set homework which is reasonable given the pupil’s own timetable.
