About Sarah
I have over 7 years of experience teaching maths from KS3 to KS5 and successfully preparing hundreds of students of all abilities for their GCSEs and A Levels with Edexcel and AQA. As an effective educator, accredited lead practitioner and previous head of department I am committed to empowering my students, enhancing their mathematical fluency and helping them achieve their academic goals regardless of ability and initial confidence with maths.
I have a secure understanding of effective teaching strategies and what can act as barriers to student progress and success. As a head of department, I’ve written comprehensive schemes of work and designed thousands of lessons to impart powerful knowledge. I have extensive knowledge of the GCSE, AS and A2 level maths content as I have led exam classes to success every year since my NQT year. In particular, I have taken high achieving year 9 and 10 classes through to early entry GCSE success for the last 3 years, with 100% of the year 9 students achieving grade 8 or 9. I have worked with Higher and Foundation students of wide ranging ability and have lots of experience working with students who have SEN.
My love of maths and problem solving is reflected in my lessons and passed down to my students. I strive to ensure maths is an accessible subject to all students, regardless of their ability, not just because it is a core subject, but because it is so interesting; occasionally frustrating but always rewarding.

I love watching ‘light-bulb’ and ‘a-ha’ moments happen with my students when they finally grasp a concept or make a connection that makes mathematical sense. My approach to problem solving with students always involves breaking problems down into smaller and more simplified components before building up to more complex concepts. This allows all students, regardless of ability, to feel successful and make progress.
