About Sam
I am an Archaeology and History graduate from the University of Sheffield, and have had a passion for history for as long as I remember. I'm patient and happy to help however I can, and hope that my enjoyment of history can be shared with those that I tutor.
I have supported students in varying capacities for the last few years, both in Sixth Form assisting the lower school History and English departments and in recent years offering History tutoring, so have some experience to build off of in providing support for young people studying history.

My lessons can cover most periods of history taught in KS3 all the way through to A-Level, with a particular specialism in Tudor England and the Cold War. I have tutored a number of students in particular at GCSE Level and am able to teach flexibly depending on what a student feels they need support with, covering both course content and essay structuring and exam skills.
My lessons can range from 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on what works well for the individual, and in teaching course content I like to focus on the themes within each period and the way events link together with the wider world in that time period, as it makes for stronger material in exams and in personal experience makes the content easier to retain.

Sam is passionate about history and this comes across in his tutoring sessions. He has been supporting my year 11 daughter with her history GCSE, it has helped her to gain confidence and improve her motivation. She asks him about things she may not have fully understood in lessons and he is able to clarify and provide additional information they may not have covered. Sam also supports her with the skills and techniques required for essay writing. I would highly recommend Sam as a friendly and helpful tutor.
I have known Sam since we were at school ourselves, he has always been really engaged with history and has put a lot of effort into developing his knowledge on the subject, going above and beyond to research and share topics that he finds interesting.
I would really recommend Sam as a tutor due to his genuine interest in the subject and his patience!View more recommendations
