About Brennan
I am a senior at Castleton University who has a love for learning languages and engaging with new and exciting cultures from all across the world. I have over 10 years of experience with the Spanish language from classroom learning, personal tutoring, to living abroad in Madrid Spain. I have been a registered tutor at my university helping students acquire the Spanish language who come from all different backgrounds. Whether they are starting from 0 or are in the C1, C2 upper levels of the learning process, I have experience in helping them reach their goals.

My teaching approach is not about learning the language but rather, acquiring it. I begin simply teaching students the 5 most important verbs in the language (Ser, Estar, Hacer, Ir, and Haber) in their present indicative forms which creates an outstanding foundation for conversational aquisition. From there I begin speaking to the student in almost only Spanish. Many question this approach because they understand language learning as drilling vocabulary and conjugations until the student has a headache and then implementing tests. I approach my teaching the same way a mother approaches the language acquisition of their child. I use words that you do know for the most part and sprinkle in words that you don't know to allow for neurogenesis and growth from context and conversation. I believe the most learning happens in the area 10-20% outside of the students understanding as to keep them on their toes and to always be reaching deep into their mind to derive meaning and understanding. I have always found success in this method.

I was struggling alot to catch up with my peers in Spanish class until my mom found Brennan! He really helped me find way of learning that fit what I like to do instead of having the same lesson plans for everything. I owe my good grades to this guy, without his help I’d have failed for sure.
