About Jake
Languages have always been at the heart of my interests. I study Languages, Literatures and Cultures at Royal Holloway, University of London, and I’ve always been drawn to the humanities more broadly, especially literature and culture. I love reading and travelling, and I’m particularly interested in how language connects people to different places, histories, and ways of thinking. Exploring languages both academically and in everyday life is something I genuinely enjoy, and it’s a big part of who I am.

I am a Languages, Literatures and Cultures student at Royal Holloway, University of London, with four years of tutoring experience in French and English. I teach students from age 11 through to adults, whether you are learning for academic purposes such as GCSEs, for professional reasons, or simply because you want to improve your language skills.
I previously worked as a self-employed tutor for over two years, teaching French and English to learners of different ages and levels. I have also worked as a Language Mentor with Language for All, supporting students in schools and conducting mock GCSE speaking examinations, helping learners prepare confidently for formal assessments. I currently work as an online tutor, teaching French and English as a Second Language to students aged 11 through to adults, for academic purposes such as GCSEs, professional goals, or general personal interest.
My lessons are tailored to your needs, prepared in advance to ensure we focus on the areas that matter most to you. Each session lasts 50 minutes, combining practical language use with guidance that helps you gain confidence, build vocabulary, and develop a clear path for ongoing learning. I aim to make lessons engaging, structured, and supportive, so you make real progress every step of the way.
