About Michelle
Native Dutch speaker who's lived in Belgium, Spain, French-Canada, the Netherlands, and now the UK.
Pursued an English-taught Bachelor in Law in Spain, and an English-taught Masters in Corporate Law in the Netherlands.
Much experience in English essay-writing, tutoring A-level French and Spanish.
I also keep up my own travel blog and enjoy writing and reading in my free time.
Fun fact: I love spelling so much that I won a national spelling competition. Twice.
Most recent successes of my students are excellent A-level results in Spanish (tutoring languages), successful job applications (helping with CV and cover letters)

I think the audience who you write to is very important, as it sets the tone of writing.
Based on that, I will see whether we need to take a formal approach, or whether informal is more suitable.
The meaning behind what you say is important too, hence, I always explain the reason as to why to phrase ideas one way or another.
For essay-writing, I apply the PEE rule (Point, Example, Explanation). This provides clarity of the idea, as well as a clear way of communicating points.
Lastly, I focus on concise writing, as it is important to capture the reader's attention, without losing it by using too many words.
All in all, I look into different writing purposes, and adjust to whatever is needed at the time.
