About Rebecca
After leaving school, I went on to start a law degree at Glasgow Caledonian University. I always had a passion for learning, I enjoyed doing well at school and in particular with maths, I found it satisfying once you understood a concept and were able to get the correct answer and in turn achieve good marks. I had a maths tutor throughout school and he taught me a lot about maths of course but also about effective learning strategies. I also enjoy helping people in general, it would be very rewarding to help a student with their maths in order to achieve better marks.

With regards to maths, I achieved an A at both National 5 and Higher. This meant that i had developed an effective strategy to do well in the subject. When tutoring, the most effective method is by firstly talking through the concept of the question. Once this is clear after all questions have been asked, past papers are the way to go. By attempting questions on a particular topic this allows for all different situations to arise for the particular question. At the end, when an answer is reached, I would ask the student to explain how they got to this answer, this then means they can understand how to get marks for working an answer out and it also means that if the answer is wrong, they know exactly what part of the working was incorrect. By providing my support through these past papers, this allows the student to have plenty of practice but also understand any areas which may not be as clear. My lessons are 30 mins to an hour long, and are aimed at national 4 and national 5 maths.
