About Laura

I am a fully qualified solicitor (now non-practising) with 10+ years’ experience in civil litigation, personal injury and insurance law.

I have a breadth of practical experience in the application of the law, and for the last 6 years of my practice I worked for a large international law firm. I am necessarily fully DBS checked (enhanced level).

I am currently employed as a UK university Law Tutor/Lecturer (full range of legal undergraduate and postgraduate courses) and I have experience in teaching/assessing/moderating the following:

• LPC: Introduction to Professional Legal Practice, Dispute Resolution (Civil/Criminal Litigation), Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence, Practical Skills (Interviewing, Advocacy, Legal Writing/Drafting, Practical Legal Research)
• GDL: Ethics & Professional Legal Practice
• LLB Undergraduate Degree: Civil Dispute Resolution, Tort
• SQELE: Tort (upon commencement of the course).

I am responsible for the delivery of the modules I am engaged to teach. This includes preparing for and teaching in smaller/larger groups, as required, in addition to marking/moderating assessments, giving feedback and providing all appropriate academic support to students. I also ensure that I keep abreast of new developments in relevant areas of law and practice, and undertake training and development as required, in order to ensure I am able to meet the high expectations of students.

I undertake online tuition, and I am also able to assist with:

1. Vacation scheme/mini pupillage applications;
2. General training contact application advice;
3. The CILEx route to qualification;
4. Proof reading of essays and dissertations, to include spelling and grammar checking.

I am able to work with students to determine the best teaching approach for their individual requirements and level of study. I can facilitate various study techniques, including lectures, presentations, workshops and one to one interactive tuition, with task based feedback and learning.
