About Jean

I am a first-class Cambridge Law graduate and trainee solicitor at a Magic Circle law firm, with over two years’ experience tutoring university-level law and supporting training contract applications.

Having benefited from excellent academic and career mentors myself, I understand the value of clear, practical and personalised guidance. I now help students improve their legal analysis, essay writing, problem-question technique, exam performance and commercial-law applications.

My approach is rigorous but supportive. I tailor each session to the student’s goals, explain difficult concepts clearly and focus on helping students become more confident and independent.

About the lesson

Training contract and vacation scheme applications

I offer one-to-one support at every stage of the legal recruitment process, including law firm research, written applications, commercial awareness, assessment centres, case studies and interviews.

I completed three vacation schemes in London—two at leading US firms and one at my current firm—as well as two vacation schemes with leading firms in Singapore. I use this experience to help students identify their strongest examples, answer application questions directly and demonstrate their competencies convincingly.

For assessment centres and interviews, I run realistic mock interviews, provide detailed and practical feedback, and share tailored case studies and commercial awareness materials for further practice.

University law tutoring

I tutor students in legal essays, problem questions, legal analysis and exam technique.

My lessons focus on worked examples rather than generic lectures. We break down the question, identify the relevant law, develop a clear structure and work through how to apply or critically evaluate the authorities. Where appropriate, I also provide sample answers and supporting notes after the lesson.
