About Shan
I’m a Lead Data Scientist with 12+ years in data and 5+ years of hands-on data science experience, with a First Class degree in Mathematics. I’ve built production forecasting and pricing systems, experimentation frameworks, optimisation analyses and machine learning solutions used in real businesses. I’ve worked with Python, SQL, scikit-learn, XGBoost and modern cloud tooling while also mentoring other data scientists. I enjoy helping people bridge the gap between textbook machine learning and the judgement needed to solve real-world problems.

My lessons focus on how data science actually works beyond simply fitting a model. We can cover problem framing, exploratory analysis, feature engineering, model selection, validation, forecasting, classification, regression, experimentation and interpreting results. I can help with coursework, personal projects, portfolio projects or data science interview preparation. I particularly focus on understanding trade-offs: why one method is appropriate, what could go wrong, how to evaluate it properly and how to turn a technically correct result into a useful decision.
