About Aamuktha
I previously tutored an ESL student over a summer, which helped me develop the ability to adapt quickly to different learning styles and needs. I’m also nearing the end of my undergraduate degree in computer science and have taken a course in learning psychology, which informs how I approach teaching—especially with younger learners. I understand that no two students are the same, so I personalize my lesson plans to reflect what excites each learner and adjust them on the spot if needed. I taught a Scratch coding club for five months, where I gained hands-on experience teaching kids how to code through storytelling, games, and creativity, and designing lesson plans with Scratch and MIT resources. I want to help students learn while enjoying the process.

My Approach to Teaching Scratch
As a tutor, I begin by getting to know each learner — not just their academic level, but what motivates them inside and outside of learning. Whether they love storytelling, video games, or animals, I use those interests to design personalized lesson plans that make coding with Scratch engaging.
Each lesson introduces a key concept like loops, events, or conditionals through a hands-on project. We might create an interactive story or game, depending on what excites the learner. My goal is to give them the confidence and tools to keep exploring coding on their own, even between sessions.
What sets me apart is my patience and attention to detail with young learners. I focus on how each child learns best. I have previously taught elementary schoolers Scratch in a club environment, but I believe one-on-one or small group instruction is the best way to learn this program.
These lessons are best suited for children ages 5–13 with little to no prior experience with Scratch or coding.
