About Reggie

With 20 years' of teaching and performing experience plus a Master’s in Music Composition, I bring depth and creativity to every lesson. I’ve played in orchestras, jazz groups, theatre productions, and studio settings. This wide background influences how I teach rhythm and expression. My lessons combine technique with a strong musical foundation. Students learn how to develop their own dynamic control and feel. I emphasise good practice habits that lead to real progress. You’ll learn coordination, timing, and stylistic versatility. I adapt lessons to your goals and interests. My studio environment is welcoming and focused. I believe music should be an enjoyable learning journey. That’s why I keep lessons engaging and balanced. Students also learn to read music, understand phrasing, and play musically. I encourage students to celebrate milestones as they grow. Helping others unlock their musical talent is incredibly rewarding for me. Together, we’ll build your skill, confidence, and artistic voice.

About the lesson

My drum lessons are designed to help students develop strong technical skills while also fostering musical expression and confidence. Each lesson is tailored to individual goals, whether a student is a beginner learning the basics, an intermediate drummer refining coordination, or an advanced player preparing for auditions or performances. Lessons focus on timing, stick control, hand independence, coordination, groove, dynamic control, and rhythm reading. I incorporate structured exercises, play-alongs, song practice, and improvisation to ensure students build both technical mastery and musicality. I also provide guidance on effective practice habits, structured routines, and ways to track progress over time. Students learn to break down complex rhythms, improve speed and precision, and develop independence between hands and feet. My teaching environment is supportive, encouraging, and patient, allowing learners to explore new skills without fear of mistakes. I emphasise listening skills, musical analysis, and practical application to help students play confidently both alone and in ensembles. Lessons balance disciplined learning with creative freedom, enabling students to explore their style and personal expression. I celebrate every milestone, encouraging students to stay motivated and recognise their growth. Drumming is not only a technical skill but also a creative outlet and a way to connect with music emotionally. Students gain confidence, discipline, and versatility while developing their musical voice. Each session is engaging, productive, and designed to make learning enjoyable. I guide students in setting realistic goals, practising efficiently, and applying their skills in real musical contexts. By the end of each lesson, students leave with new techniques, creative inspiration, and a deeper understanding of rhythm and music. My goal is to help every learner become a technically skilled, expressive, and confident drummer.
