About Eme

I have a degree in English and Linguistic Philology at the University of Barcelona. I trained as a second language teacher (TEFL / ELE) and I have more than five years of experience. I have taught in different language centers for companies, giving classes of all levels in international settings, to executives, professionals from different sectors and also to young people and teenagers, in individual classes and in groups. I have created and developed my own material and I think it is important to have a wide variety of tools to always choose the most suitable for each student. I have always studied languages, I speak Italian, Portuguese, German and French and I have also taught Spanish for foreigners for more than four years. All this gives me the perspective of the teacher and also that of the student. I have the facility to detect the obstacles, motivation and attention span of each person and use the weak as well as the strong points to help in learning. Because of my professional activity, I am in continuous contact with all kinds of cultural and social trends, and I find it easy to provide material and content from different areas to find together that extra stimulus and motivation that are essential for all learning. For me, English is a passion. In addition to teaching I am also a translator and creative editor. I enjoy helping to learn, I think it is continuous learning also for teachers, and I like to find the formula to help each student lose their fear, have fun and move forward.

About the lesson

The first thing I do before applying any method is to listen to each student, regardless of their level, to decide on a methodology, and the percentage of each skill they want or need to practice. That and your specific needs (be the preparation for an exam, one or several areas that present more difficulty or work needs such as trips, presentations, professional contacts, etc). From there we will combine the material you are using, if any, with specific activities for your profile. My approach is communicative, and I always seek to create an environment in which students can put into practice existing knowledge, learn to think in the language and understand it as a communication tool, not as an end in itself. I work the conversation very focused on specific situations, the questions and answers, the reading comprehension, the listenings, the vocabulary in context, the videos and the written expression, always adapting them to each level and looking for interesting and motivating contents, in addition to using them in the percentages that each student requires.
