About Sheena

Hi! I'm a Philosophy graduate from the University of the Philippines. I wrote my undergraduate thesis entirely in Filipino, which helped me strengthen my vocabulary while deepening my appreciation and passion for the Filipino language.

I value clear communication, patience, and attention to detail, and I believe that learning a language should be both engaging and enjoyable. About the lesson

My approach to teaching Filipino/Tagalog is personalized and tailored to each student's goals, proficiency level, and learning style. As a Philosophy scholar from the University of the Philippines with academic experience in Filipino writing, I believe that learning a language goes beyond memorizing vocabulary and grammar. It is also about understanding how the language is naturally used in everyday conversations, academic settings, and different social and cultural contexts.

What sets me apart is the combination of my academic training, experience with the Filipino language, and passion for clear and meaningful communication. My background in Philosophy has strengthened my ability to explain ideas clearly, critically, and thoughtfully, while writing my thesis in Filipino has given me valuable experience using the language in an academic setting. I strive to create a supportive and engaging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and developing their confidence at their own pace.

My lessons are designed for students of various ages and proficiency levels—from complete beginners learning Filipino/Tagalog from the basics to intermediate learners looking to improve their conversational fluency, reading, and writing skills. I also welcome students interested in Filipino culture and communication or those learning the language for travel, everyday interactions, academic purposes, or personal development. Each lesson can be adapted to your specific needs and goals, ensuring that you learn Filipino in a way that is both practical and meaningful.
