About Andres

Andres brings a unique blend of hands-on expertise and academic insight, having worked with some of the biggest names in music—including Annie Lennox, David Gilmour, Kanye West, and Jay Z—as well as some of the most promising indie artists such as Paris Paloma, Seafret, Flyte and Vraell.

His versatility covers everything from Dolby Atmos mixing and sound engineering to music composition for film, TV, and advertising. Andres’ experience spans iconic projects and collaborations. He currently works as a Dolby Atmos engineer for Nettwerk Music and Universal Music Group and trained with Roxy Music’s Phil Manzanera, learning first-hand from a legendary producer and guitarist.

His academic work at De Montfort University pushed him to explore creativity from a new angle, examining the art of sound from a deeply reflective, auto-ethnographic perspective.

Now, Andres is at the forefront of research on AI ethics in music, an area set to transform the industry. His postdoctoral work will explore how technology intersects with human creativity, and he’s committed to ensuring it’s done responsibly. But beyond his accomplishments, Andres is passionate about mentorship.

He is driven to pass his knowledge and industry secrets on to aspiring music producers, sound engineers, and musicians. If you’re looking to collaborate with someone who can bring your music to a professional level—or if you’re an up-and-coming artist aiming to refine your sound and vision—Andres is the perfect guide to help you achieve your goals and bring your music to life.

  • When did you first develop a passion for music and your favourite instrument?

I started to play piano and guitar at a very early age after I had an unfortunate car accident with my mum. This happened when I was five years ago and haven't stopped since!
  • Is there a particular type music or artist that you listen to on a loop without it driving you crazy?

Last year when I was finishing my PhD, I used to tune into lofi hiphop playlists which helped me to focus and concentrate whilst writing the 80,000 word Thesis. I usually listen to though a wide variety of genres.
  • Explain to us the most difficult or riveting course you could personally give to a student of music.

As I consider myself to be an expert in music production and mixing given my experience and academic studies, I could say that I could delve really in depth into any of these two topics. However I can also teach the very basics of Sound Engineering and Music Production with an easy to understand and very practical approach.
  • What do you think is the most complicated instrument to master and why?

I would say the violin or the trumpet. These two in my opinion require years of practice due to their construction, technique, and fine tuning. In terms of DAW's I would say perhaps Protools since it is a bit rigid and it's still the most advanced software out there. That's why I tend to teach to my students Logic Pro X which has a more friendly interface and creative approach that gets them started almost immediately, being also a highly professional DAW and industry standard.
  • What are your keys to success?

I would say a mixture of constant practice, definitely academic studies, and while studying trying to land a job inside the industry. All these along with networking, are for me the keys to success.
  • Name three musicians you dream of meeting in your favourite bar in the early hours of the morning. Explain why.

I would like to meet Tame Impala and ask him about his writing and production techniques. I would also like to meet in person Mark Ronson and talk about sampling and his production methods. Finally I would love to meet Hans Zimmer to talk about his music for film.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to music or your days at music school.

Whilst doing my PhD I had the amazing chance to work in different Studios as an engineer with David Gilmour from Pink Floyd. During those years I also worked as an engineer with other incredible artists. Once in a studio the british singer Annie Lennox asked me to setup a midi keyboard with some particular string sounds. In some minutes she came up with the most incredible arrangement I've ever heard.
  • What are the little touches that make you a Superprof in music?

I am very dedicated and passionate about my profession and have plenty of both academic and real industry expertise. In essence I always give 100 percent in any endeavour that I setup myself into and feel blessed to do this every day!
