About Shelley
With 16 years of experience teaching at the college level and my current work as a high school art teacher, I’ve worked with students at many different stages of their artistic development. My education includes a BFA in Painting & Ceramics, an MFA in Ceramics from the Rhode Island School of Design, and an M.Ed. in Art Education, giving me both the technical expertise and the teaching experience to help students grow with confidence.
Every student learns differently, so I tailor my instruction to your individual goals—whether you’re building foundational skills, developing a portfolio, preparing for college, or refining your personal style. My approach is supportive, structured, and encouraging. I believe that confidence comes from understanding both the “how” and the “why” behind artistic decisions.
The most rewarding part of teaching is helping students discover their own artistic voice while developing the skills to express it. My goal is not only to help you improve as an artist, but to help you become more confident in your creative abilities.

I offer personalized art tutoring for students of all ages and skill levels.

Whether you’re building a portfolio, preparing for college admissions, exploring new techniques, or simply looking to grow as an artist, my goal is to help you develop confidence, technical skills, and your own unique creative voice.
My favorite part of making is helping other people learn to think critically, make personal decisions, truly become confident but most importantly assist in the discovery of their artistic voice.
