About Sanya

Hallo zusammen! My name is Sanya. I am a German national with strong family roots in Hamburg, a beautiful city in northern Germany. I formally studied German at Columbia University in New York, where I was awarded the Louise Stabenau Prize as the top German student in my batch and received recognition from the Consulate General of Germany in New York for excellence in Oral German.

I know firsthand how challenging learning the language can feel — articles, cases, long compound words — I’ve been through that journey myself. That’s why I explain concepts clearly and with patience, making sure every step feels achievable. At the same time, I believe language learning should be FUN: with my background in improv and theater, I bring energy and spontaneity into lessons, so they aren't only effective but also enjoyable (you won’t find yourself constantly checking the clock, I promise).

I look forward to meeting you in class — and to making your German journey both successful and fun. Bis bald!

About the lesson

My focus is helping A1–B1 learners build strong foundations in German through clear and engaging lessons. I’ve also guided students at the B2 level, so I can support you as you advance further.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT:

• Step-by-step Explanations — especially on tricky areas like articles, word order, and cases
• Focus on Pronunciation so you sound confident from the start
• Vocabulary in context for both exams and everyday situations, so you remember and use it naturally
• Speaking and Writing practice in every lesson, helping you overcome the fear of “not knowing what to say”
• A lively experience beyond the textbook — we'll watch German films, analyze short clips, or use cultural references to make learning more engaging
