About Iwona

I'm Iwona, a multilingual educator with a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the U.S. and an M.A. in Germanic Studies from Europe. With over 20 years of experience teaching German and Polish—including university-level instruction and individualized coaching—I specialize in helping learners reach fluency with confidence and depth. My approach blends academic rigor with psychological insight, ensuring each lesson is personalized, engaging, and grounded in real communication. I’ve taught students from all backgrounds, designed curricula across modalities, and mentored at every level. I don’t just teach language—I help you think and feel in it.

About the lesson

Whether you want to master conversation, improve grammar, read classic or contemporary literature, or explore language through music or poetry, I will tailor each session to your unique goals and interests. My academic background allows me to offer highly customized, college-level instruction—for example, in German or Polish literature from any historical period, language learning through film, poetry or song lyrics, or introductory linguistics.

I always prioritize speaking—after all, language is a tool of communication. But if you’re more interested in reading, writing, or structure, I’ll shape our lessons accordingly. I provide all materials and rely heavily on authentic resources from German- or Polish-speaking countries: news clips, short stories, audio recordings, and more. My approach is dynamic, flexible, and rooted in years of experience adapting to the needs of each learner. The ultimate goal for me is effectiveness - if the selected approach or materials are not as effective as I want, I will adjust them until they do. And since learning a language is a highly emotional process, I make sure to address the emotional side as well.

Think of me as your language psychologist: I use the latest research, authentic materials, and individualized strategies to unlock your fluency, confidence, and passion for language. Let’s build your personal path to real‑life communication—not just another class.

I teach via Zoom and use different tools (on- and offline) tailored towards the learner to offer different modes of studying and learning. I also dive deeply into the culture and take the learner into the "the virtual wild" of the particular language. Also los! Chodźmy!
