About Trent

I have been playing guitar for over 30 years and have a broad experience of performance, composition, song-writing, production, recording, music theory and music technology. In 2004 I completed a degree in music at the City University London, where I was awarded a First Class, and an award for outstanding achievement in my final year. I have since been teaching guitar both privately in students' homes and in schools, whilst recording and performing as a guitarist and vocalist in groups and as a solo singer/songwriter.

About the lesson

I believe in developing and expanding every aspect of a student's musical knowledge and awareness through their instrument, starting immediately with practical play; incorporating reading and music theory as students progress. I aim to make lessons enjoyable, helping students to develop their natural interest and excitement for the instrument through music that they love and would love to play. I teach electric and acoustic guitar in a range of styles including: rock, blues, indie, jazz, folk, fingerpicking, acoustic tapping and classical. I also teach bass guitar, music theory, recording and production, and can take students through classical or rock grades.

I’m a 63 years old (young!) who has always wanted to learn to play the guitar. I was looking to find a teacher who could teach me face to face rather than online. Trent is an excellent teacher, tacking the time to talk through guitar tabs and chords with the specific songs, and working through the verses so that the guitar notation on paper makes perfect sense when playing. He is extremely patient, as my mental muscle memory isn’t quite as quick as a youngster, and is great with his encouragement and pointing out the positive steps I am making.
I would thoroughly recommend Trent as a teacher to anyone looking to learn the guitar.

Highly recommend Trent as a guitar teacher. Knowledgeable, patient and explains things in a really clear way. Lessons are super productive but also fun at the same time. I have improved more in the last three lessons than I've managed to in the last three years of trying to teach myself!

Trent is a great guy, down to earth and friendly. I have tried other methods of learning guitar and other teachers but they didn't approach it the same way that Trent does. He is fantastic and bases lessons on what the 'student' likes in terms of music. A++++
