I like to divide my sessions into grammar sessions and writing sessions. This way, I get to focus on both skills at a most reasonable pace. Writing sessions involve reading too, I like to pick different texts (according to the student´s level) so we can use as a guide during class.
A little bit about my profesional background:
I wrote two Soap Operas that were aired in more than 10 countries including the U.S. I also worked as a columnist for the Colombian Magazine “Cartel Urbano” for almost 4 years. I have published several chronicles in different Colombian newspapers and publications including “El Tiempo” and “El Espectador”; the two largest and most important newspapers in Colombia. Throughout my career as a professional writer and journalist, I have worked as a translator for both fiction and non-fiction content.
I currently work as a translator for a couple of companies in the US and I´m also a columnist for the magazine Contratiempo, a Spanish-language magazine conceived in April 2003 by a group of Latino writers whose mission is to preserve and highlight the cultural identity and contributions of the Spanish-speaking Latino population of the United States.
Maria is a amazing teacher. I’ve worked with Maria for about a year and I plan on continuing my lessons with her until I become fluent in Spanish. Maria is dependable, knowledgeable, and intelligent. She is very patient and also very fun to work with. She is also very creative and makes learning Spanish interesting. Maria has the educational background and extensive experience in teaching the Spanish language, so who ever she teaches will be in great hands. I would highly recommend her as a teacher.
