About Thorhildur
I know how hard it can be to learn a new language, but I've learned many tricks that can help.
I've often been told I'm a natural teacher because I love sharing what I know about subjects I'm passionate about. This includes etymology and language learning.
I enjoy traveling, especially to countries where Spanish and Arabic are spoken. I like to challenge myself by interacting with locals in their own language. For me, speaking someone's language is a sign of respect and the best way to truly connect with a culture.

My name is Þórhildur, but at least in the beginning, you may call me Hilda. I'm from Iceland, and my native language is Icelandic. Additionally, I speak English, German, and Spanish, I understand the other Nordic languages, and I speak a little Arabic. That makes it easier for me to teach my mother tongue, since I know what it's like to learn a 2nd or even 5th language. I can teach in English, German, or Spanish.
Whether you don't know any Icelandic but want to learn a few phrases before travelling to Iceland, want to practice what you've already learned, or are interested in Icelandic culture or history, I think we might be a good match.
My lessons are tailored to each student, whether you are a beginner or more advanced. Together, we can create a lesson plan based on what you want to learn, and we can revisit and change it as needed.
We can focus on:

- Basic grammar and spelling
- Pronunciation
- Conversational practice
- Cultural context
- Comparison with other languages
