About Eric

I’m a software engineer at Monzo working on the Children’s Banking product, where I build high-scale backend systems used by millions of customers. Before that, I worked at FactSet, where I helped integrate LLM technology into real products and developed full stack software in a fast-paced commercial environment.

I graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a First Class BSc in Computer Science, and I’ve been passionate about programming since I was 16. Over the years, I’ve built strong experience across software engineering, from clean code and object-oriented programming to APIs, databases, cloud systems, and shipping real products that users rely on every day.

In my lessons, I focus on making programming practical and easy to understand. Whether you want to learn Swift and build iPhone apps, improve your coding fundamentals, or understand how software is built in industry, I’ll tailor sessions to your level and goals so you can make real progress quickly.

About the lesson

I’m a professional software engineer at Monzo, with a First Class BSc in Computer Science from the University of Edinburgh and previous experience at FactSet. I help beginners and aspiring developers learn how to build real iOS apps using Swift — from fundamentals to publishing on the App Store.

Whether you’re starting from scratch or looking to level up, I’ll guide you through practical, hands-on projects so you actually build and ship apps, not just follow tutorials.

What you’ll learn:

- Swift fundamentals and clean coding practices

- Building real iOS apps using UIKit or SwiftUI

- App architecture and best practices used in industry

- Working with APIs, data, and persistence

- Debugging, testing, and preparing apps for the App Store

I can also support backend concepts (using Go where relevant), interview prep, and career guidance for breaking into tech.

Lessons are tailored to your goals — whether that’s launching your first app, improving your CV, or transitioning into a software engineering role.
