About Minjoo

Annyeonghaseyo ! I’m Minjoo.

I was born and raised in Korea, moved to London in my early 20s, and am now settled in Australia, where I work as a jewelry artist.

I travel back to Korea a couple of times a year and stay closely connected to Korean life and culture through my family and friends. This means the Korean I share with you isn’t just textbook Korean — it’s the language, expressions and culture that are actually part of everyday life in Korea today.

Having lived in Korea, the UK and Australia, I understand what it’s like to communicate across different languages and cultures. I’m fluent in English, so if there’s a Korean expression or cultural nuance that just doesn’t quite translate, I can explain it in a way that makes sense to an English speaker.

I’m a creative and playful spirit, and that naturally comes through in my lessons too. I want you to feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions and having a laugh while you learn.

Whether you’re learning Korean because you love the culture, want to connect with Korean friends or family, or you’re planning a trip to Korea, I’d love to help you learn Korean in a way that feels natural, current and genuinely useful.

About the lesson

My lessons focus on helping you speak Korean naturally and confidently through relaxed, real-life conversation — more like talking to a Korean friend than sitting in a traditional classroom !

As a native Korean speaker who is fluent in English, I can explain Korean expressions and nuances in a way that is easy for English speakers to understand.

Alongside the fundamentals, you’ll learn the Korean people actually use today — everyday expressions, natural pronunciation, slang (신조어), trending phrases (유행어), and the little cultural nuances that textbooks often miss.

I travel to Korea regularly, so I stay closely connected to current Korean language and culture. If you’re planning a trip to Korea, I can also tailor our lessons around practical situations you’ll actually encounter — ordering food, shopping, getting around, making friends and communicating with locals.

Lessons are personalised to your level, interests and goals, and are open to all ages and levels, including complete beginners.

My lessons usually run for 60 minutes.
