About Will

Let me tell you a quick story. The first time I sat my AS English Literature exam, I got a D. I was gutted, and was seriously considering dropping the subject. But with the help of an absolute wizard of an English teacher, I managed to turn that D into an A, and I went on to study Literature at Oxford University. I’ve since had 10 years' experience as a tutor, and have helped dozens of students to achieve top grades in GCSE & A-level English. Want to know the key to my transformation, and the success of my students? - ESSAY TECHNIQUE! - And in particular, a toolkit of key principles and skills that I learnt myself as a student, and have helped other students to learn as well, over the years. My approach to teaching is friendly & fun, but also efficient and effective at the same time. (I like to have a laugh with my students, but also to help them get results fast!)

About the lesson

My sole focus as a tutor is helping students cut through the confusion about how to write a good academic essay. I’m here to share the key principles and techniques to enable you to achieve top marks in your essays – and to do so as efficiently as possible, saving you hours of wasted time and effort. I use a combination of face-to-face sessions online, in which I'll explain key principles, along with 'written sessions', in which I review and leave detailed, annotated feedback on your practice essays - so you can pinpoint what you need to improve, and how to do it. I require 48 hours' notice for rescheduling or cancellation. If a lesson is rescheduled or cancelled less than 48 hours beforehand, it's unlikely I'll be able to fill the lost slot, and so my policy is to retain a deposit of 50% of the booking cost.
