About Benita

About Me

I am the Founder of Joy Music School, Bangalore, and a Trinity College London-certified professional music teacher with over 15 years of experience in music and 10 years of teaching experience, both online and offline.

I started learning music at the age of 13 at Elshaddai Music Academy, Chennai, and later trained myself to play songs independently in different musical styles.

Over the past 10 years, I have trained nearly 500 students of all age groups, including students from the USA, Canada, UK, Australia, Singapore, India, and the Middle East.

I teach students to read music, play songs independently, understand music, and create their own music. I also prepare students for Trinity College London music examinations.

My passion is to make music learning simple, practical, enjoyable, and accessible to every music lover.

About the lesson

# Professional & Hobby Music Training

I offer both **professional music training** and a **simple, fast-paced course for hobby learners**. My teaching method is simple, practical, and easy to understand—even for young children.

Students learn to **read, write, and play music from sheet music**, as well as learn to play songs independently in different styles.

**Each lesson includes:**

* Music theory & sheet reading
* Sight reading & ear training
* Scales, chords & chord progressions
* Arpeggios, rhythms & left-hand patterns
* Practical song examples
* Activities, exercises & homework
* Lesson videos for practice and revision

With consistent practice, students can start playing **with both hands within the first five 1-hour sessions**.

# Classes

* One-on-one & customised group lessons
* Online & in-person classes
* Online classes via Google Meet - (concealed information)

I also conduct **student performance competitions** to build confidence and motivation.

**My goal is to make music learning simple, enjoyable, and effective while helping students become independent musicians.**

I am so grateful to have found Mrs. Benita as my son Avyukth’s piano teacher! He has been learning from her for the past 2 years and the progress he has made is truly remarkable. Mrs. Benita is not only a talented pianist, but she is also an excellent teacher who has a gift for connecting with her students and inspiring their love of music.
She is patient, kind, and always willing to go the extra mile to help her students reach their full potential. My son looks forward to his lessons every week, and I can see how much he has grown in his skills and confidence as a musician.
If you're looking for a talented and dedicated piano teacher, I highly recommend Mrs. Benita. She is simply the best!

Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?
I am a piano tutor. I developed an interest in this field when I was 10 years old while listening to songs by Don Moen. I used to listen to a lot of albums. My favorites are "I will sing" by Don Moen, and "This is our god" by Hillsongs.
What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?
I struggled a lot while I was learning music. I didn't get a proper teacher to guide me. So I decided that I should teach my students all that I know and guide them in the right direction to pursue their passion.
How does your work help society?
Music is something that is very well known for stress relief. Music takes people out of the stressful world and helps them calm themselves and perform better in their social and personal life.
If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?
Emily Bear and Louis Banks are my role models. I love the way they have emerged thus far.
Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.
Composing and listening to music.
Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?
I was a software professional but I quit my job to pursue my passion which is teaching music to all those who are passionate about music. It's been 5 years since I have been in this field. I have got a lot of good reviews from almost all my students. As this is my passion I don't feel any stress while doing this job. I am very happy and love teaching my students.
