About Domitille
I’m a French-American costume designer, and stylist based in Los Angeles. I have an MFA in Costume Design from Carnegie Mellon University and work professionally across film, television, theater, opera, fashion, and live performance.
I love working with my hands and bringing ideas to life through clothing. Sewing is both a technical skill and a creative process, and I especially enjoy helping people discover that it can be much less intimidating than it first seems!!
As a teacher, I’m patient, attentive, and adaptable. I have all the necessary equipment to also come to you with machines, materials, and tools.

My lessons are designed for beginners who want to learn how to sew in a relaxed, practical, and encouraging environment.
Whether you've never touched a sewing machine before or have tried sewing on your own and want to feel more confident, we’ll start wherever you are.
I believe sewing is best learned by doing, so lessons are hands-on and adapted to your individual interests and goals.
As a professional costume designer and tailor, I can also share practical techniques and knowledge from working with garments professionally. If you’re interested in the creative side of clothing, I can introduce you to fundamentals of design such as developing ideas, working with silhouette and proportion, choosing materials, and approaching a garment from concept to finished piece.
I’m also happy to answer questions about my experience working in the costume industry and share practical tips as well as insight into the profession.
You don’t need any previous sewing experience. We’ll work at your pace and build your skills step by step :)
