About Bukky

I'm Bukky, an experienced Sewing, Fashion Design and Creative Skills Tutor with over 15 years of experience creating handmade pieces and helping beginners develop confidence in their creativity.

I teach children, teenagers and adults how to use a sewing machine confidently, understand fabrics, take measurements, create patterns and bring their own designs to life.

Over the years, I have supported complete beginners through private lessons and community creative programmes, helping learners progress from their very first stitch to creating beautiful handmade items such as clothing, bags, cushions, accessories and personalised projects.

My teaching style is patient, friendly and practical. I believe everyone can learn a creative skill with the right guidance, encouragement and step-by-step support.

Whether you want to sew as a hobby, improve your skills, explore fashion design, or develop your creativity into a small business, I will support you at your own pace.

Alongside sewing, I also have experience in design, creativity and business development, allowing me to help learners who want to turn their ideas into finished products.

About the lesson

My lessons are practical, creative and personalised to your goals. Whether you are a complete beginner or looking to improve your sewing skills, I will guide you step by step in a supportive and encouraging environment.

Lessons are available both online and in person.

Online lessons allow you to learn from the comfort of your own home with clear step-by-step demonstrations, guidance and support. You will need access to a sewing machine and basic sewing tools, and I can advise you on materials needed for your projects.

In-person lessons can also be arranged in a suitable community learning space, providing a practical environment where you can receive hands-on support, guidance and build your confidence.

For beginners, we start by building confidence with:
• Understanding your sewing machine
• Threading, stitching and basic sewing techniques
• Understanding fabrics, tools and equipment
• Cutting and completing beginner-friendly projects

As you progress, you can learn:
• Taking accurate body measurements
• Pattern drafting and cutting
• Dressmaking and garment construction
• Bags and fashion accessories
• Alterations and finishing techniques
• Creative handmade projects

Each lesson is designed around practical learning, meaning you don't just watch — you create your own finished pieces while developing skills you can continue using.

I also offer structured learning plans for students who want a clear pathway, including beginner sewing programmes and support for those interested in developing their creative skills further.

Lessons are suitable for children, teenagers and adults. Whether your goal is to enjoy sewing as a hobby, create your own clothes, improve your skills, or develop your creativity into something more, I would love to support your journey.
