About Mrinal
I am Mrinal Kumar Natta, a professionally trained sitarist and music educator with over three decades of teaching experience. I hold a Master's degree in Instrumental Music (Sitar) from Rabindra Bharati University and have been an All India Radio–approved B-grade sitar artist. Over the years, I have performed at prestigious venues, including the British High Commission, and have been deeply rooted in the guru-shishya tradition of Indian classical music.
Alongside performance, teaching has been my lifelong passion. I spent 28 years teaching vocal and instrumental music at Ryan International School, Vasant Kunj, working with students from pre-primary to senior classes. My approach is calm, patient, and highly structured, making it especially suitable for beginners while still offering depth for serious learners. Through personalized online lessons, I aim to make sitar learning accessible, disciplined, and enjoyable for students of all ages.

The classes are thoughtfully structured to suit each student’s level, learning pace, and musical goals. Beginners are guided patiently from the very basics—understanding posture, tuning, right and left-hand techniques, and simple exercises—so that they build a strong and confident foundation without feeling rushed or overwhelmed.
As students progress, lessons gradually move into ragas, compositions, layakari, and improvisation, with clear explanations and regular revision. Intermediate and advanced learners receive focused guidance on technique refinement, repertoire building, and musical expression. Online classes are interactive, well-paced, and personalised, ensuring individual attention and steady progress. The teaching approach combines traditional discipline with a friendly, encouraging environment, making learning the sitar both structured and enjoyable.
