About the lesson

Session 1 — Introduction & Interface Basics

What SketchUp is used for, interface layout, toolbars, template selection, and basic navigation (orbit, pan, zoom).

Session 2 — Core Navigation Skills

Deep practice with camera control, walk tool, standard views, zoom precision, and navigating 3D space confidently.

Session 3 — Drawing Fundamentals

Lines, rectangles, circles, arcs. Understanding inference (snapping system) and how SketchUp “reads” geometry.

Session 4 — Push/Pull & 3D Creation

Turning 2D shapes into 3D forms using Push/Pull. Creating basic volumes like walls, boxes, and openings.

Session 5 — Selection & Editing Tools

Move, rotate, scale, eraser, tape measure. Precise editing and understanding how geometry reacts.

Session 6 — Groups & Components (Core Concept)

Why raw geometry breaks models, how to use groups vs components, and organizing a clean model structure.

Session 7 — Copying, Arrays & Alignment

Move-copy, linear arrays, rotate-copy, and using inference for accurate duplication and spacing.

Session 8 — Materials & Basic Texturing

Applying materials, editing textures, scaling textures, and understanding visual realism basics.

Session 9 — Tags (Layers) & Organization

Using tags properly (and common mistakes), visibility control, and model organization strategies.

Session 10 — Scenes & Presentation Views

Creating saved views, camera settings, transitions, and using scenes for presentations.

Session 11 — Dimensions & Annotation

Adding dimensions, text labels, leaders, and preparing a model for communication.

Session 12 — Precision Modeling Techniques

Guides, offsets, intersections, inference locking, and modeling with accuracy instead of estimation.

Session 13 — Terrain & Basic Landscape Modeling

Sandbox tools, creating terrain, sculpting surfaces, and integrating buildings into environments.

Session 14 — Styles, Shadows & Visual Output

Edge styles, face styles, shadows, ambient settings, and presentation-ready visuals.

Session 15 — Components Workflow & Library Use

Advanced component behavior, nesting, dynamic components overview, and using external libraries.

Session 16 — Final Project (Mini Real-World Build)

Students build a small complete project (e.g., room, kiosk, or small house), applying all skills: modeling, organization, materials, scenes, and presentation export.
