About Timothy
I have taught English and Spanish to non-native speakers of each language, both in the US and Colombia, where part of my family is from; written for US, UK, Latin America and Spain's most important news outlets; and translated and interpreted in both directions.
These experiences help me understand what obstacles a student might have in succeeding in learning the language.
I also connect students to the cultures that speak Spanish, which is key to building a relationship to the language.

I teach people who really want to learn Spanish! But not just the grammar and structural part of the language, because it's important not to get stuck in textbooks, but rather to develop a living relationship with Spanish, and the cultures that speak it.
So besides using a grammar textbook, I employ soap operas, music, poetry, literature, movies, journalism and more to help students really get a feel for Spanish as it is used in life, and for the people that speak the language!
